Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program participants will be able to:
- Develop an understanding of Trauma and the role of first responders (EMS).
- Understand the process of Trauma care.
- Identify national, state and local Trauma statistics
- Discuss the protocols and outcomes of selected Trauma events.
Keynote Speaker
Dr. L.D. George Angus, is the Trauma Director at Nassau University Medical Center Level I Trauma Center. He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1982 and a Master's in Public Health from Columbia University in 1995. Dr. Angus has 30 years experience in the area of trauma treatments and modalities. His academic appointments include Clinical Professor of Surgery-AUC, Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Critical Care and has been on ATLS State Faculty since 2002. He has published extensively on trauma and wrote a chapter in the book Trauma Care in Nassau County- The Past 100 years In: Nassau County: From Hinterland to Suburban Metropolis. Dr. Angus is a member of the NY State Trauma Advisory Committee and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
